HOUSTON, TX – May 30, 2012 - Businesses in the New York Metro area are gaining a new resource as Northern New Jersey brand positioning expert and proven marketing executive M.J. Jolda joins the ranks of Chief Outsiders. Chief Outsiders is one of the nation’s most innovative marketing strategy consulting firms, focused on implementing market based growth plans for mid-size companies through fractional, or part-time marketing executives. As a Chief Outsider, Ms. Jolda will assist growth-oriented businesses as a fractional Chief Marketing Officer.
“My senior level marketing and branding experience with both small entrepreneurial ventures and global Fortune 100 firms allows me to quickly evaluate situations and implement strategic plans that can fuel business performance. I am excited to be able to share my expertise and abilities as a Chief Outsiders CMO,” said Ms. Jolda.
M.J.’s hands-on experience spans more than twenty years managing a broad range of Consumer Package Goods categories, such as household, food, OTC, paper and baby care. She began her career at Altria, (formerly Philip Morris Companies Inc.) where she managed promotional activities for Virgina Slims and Marlboro then moved into Brand Management with Benson & Hedges.
Her extensive branding and marketing career includes Senior Brand Management positions for French’s, Vlasic Pickles, Gerber Baby Care and most recently, Senior Vice President of Marketing and R&D at Marcal Manufacturing, LLC. During her tenure, she lead the rebranding of the company’s struggling flagship tissue brand, “Marcal,” by leveraging the company’s 60 year heritage in recycled paper. The new brand, “Marcal Small Steps,” was the first “green” retail tissue line in the US. The rebranding effort helped to stabilize the company’s consumer business, grow distribution and eventually won it a foothold at Wal-Mart.
“M.J. has a proven knack for rejuvenating brands,” said founder and principal of Chief Outsiders, Art Saxby. “Her ability to spark growth with deeper, more meaningful positioning will greatly benefit all of our clients and strengthen the Chief Outsiders’ network,”
M.J.’s additional career accolades include being a recipient of Reckitt’s President’s Award in 1998 and Mergers & Acquisitions Advisors’ 2010 “Consumer Goods Turnaround of the Year” Award while at Marcal.
Ms. Jolda received her BS in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Rhode Island, her MBA in Marketing and International Business from NYU’s Stern School of Business and her Digital Marketing Executive MBA from Rutgers University. She is a frequent speaker on marketing topics at various conferences including the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), the Woman’s Network for a Sustainable Future and Go Green Expo NY.
